Eddy Current Test Coil

An inductor that generates eddy current loops in conductive test material via high-frequency alternating fields and measures resulting impedance changes.

Eddy current testing is a non-destructive method to find near-surface flaws like cracks or pores. You run the coil over the weld and the adjacent material. If the signal changes, you've found a flaw. It's important that the surface is clean and the probe is properly set, otherwise you'll measure garbage. The part doesn't need to be cold, but the test should run under consistent conditions so you can evaluate the signal cleanly.
