Root opening constancy

Root opening consistency describes how well a weld opens and enlarges its root. High consistency means the root remains stable and no cracking occurs.

Physical-Chemical Mechanism of Action

Root gap consistency refers to the stability of the weld root. With high consistency, the root stays stable and doesn't widen, preventing cracks.

Metallurgical Relevance & Welding Risks

Poor root gap consistency results in an unstable root that can widen and cause cracking. This can lead to weld deterioration and safety issues in plant operation.

Workshop Practice & Instructions

To ensure good root gap consistency, pay attention to correct welding parameters such as temperature and time. Use high-quality shielding gas and make sure the weld pool pressure is stable. If problems with root gap consistency occur, check material condition and welding technique.
