Root Protection Backing Tape

A self-adhesive, heat-resistant aluminum tape with an integrated fiberglass backing to shape the weld root without separate gas.

Physical-Chemical Mechanism of Action

The root protection forming tape consists of a self-adhesive aluminum film reinforced with a fiberglass backing. The tape remains stable at high temperatures and prevents distortion or fusion of the weld root.

Metallurgical Relevance & Risks During Welding

Without the root protection forming tape, the weld root can be distorted or fused at high temperatures, leading to cracks and deformation. The tape protects the root from the influence of heat and gases, ensuring a clean, stable weld.

Workshop Practice & Instructions

Use the forming tape for welding processes with high temperatures. Place it on the weld root before starting the welding process and let it self-adhere. Make sure the tape is not damaged and is applied correctly to ensure optimal protection performance.
