Creep test

A long-term test subjecting a specimen to constant tensile load at elevated temperatures. It measures the slow, time-dependent deformation (creep) of high-temperature structural alloys.

The creep test checks how a material behaves under sustained load at high temperature. The specimen is constantly loaded over a long period, and you measure how much it slowly deforms – that's called creep. This is important because components operating hot can simply give way over time, even if the stress is below the yield point. When reading the results, pay attention to how the strain develops over time and whether the material eventually breaks.
