Destructive Materials Testing

Destructive material testing: Tests materials through mechanical, thermal, or chemical loading until failure, to determine their mechanical properties.

Physicochemical Mechanism of Action

Materials are subjected to controlled loads and analyzed until they are finally destroyed. This can be done through stress tests (e.g., torsion test), pressure tests, or chemical reactions.

Metallurgical Relevance & Welding Risks

These tests help determine the strength, hardness, and durability of materials. Incorrect interpretation of results can lead to unacceptable components that might fail under mechanical load.

Workshop Practice & Instructions

Use standardized test protocols and measuring equipment. Ensure all parameters (load, temperature, time) are correctly adhered to. Document results thoroughly for traceability.
