Zirconium-free tungsten electrode

Zirconium-free tungsten electrode: An electrode without zirconium, optimized for AC welding of light metals. Prevents contamination and improves weld quality.

Physical-Chemical Mechanism of Action

Zirconium-free tungsten electrodes contain no zirconium, an element that can cause contamination in AC welding of light metals. The electrode is made of pure tungsten or tungsten doped with lanthanum, and is designed to provide a stable electrical arc.

Metallurgical Relevance & Welding Risks

Using zirconium-free electrodes prevents the introduction of zirconium contaminants into the weld, which is especially important for high-precision or critical applications. These contaminants can lead to porosity and reduced mechanical properties. By using these electrodes, weld quality is improved and the risk of defects is reduced.

Workshop Practice & Action Guidelines

Use zirconium-free tungsten electrodes for AC welding of light metals like aluminum or nickel. Make sure the electrode is clean and dry before use. Work in a stable environment to ensure optimal weld quality.
