Intermediary Cleaner

Intermediate cleaner is a chemical solvent that removes excess penetrant from the part surface and prevents false background indications during developing.

Physical-Chemical Mechanism of Action

The intermediate cleaner reacts with the penetrant, dissolving and removing it from the surface. This prevents the penetrant from causing unwanted background patterns during development.

Metallurgical Relevance & Risks in Welding

Without an effective intermediate cleaner, excess penetrant can cause porosity and discoloration. This can affect weld strength and lead to cracking or hot cracking.

Workshop Practice & Action Guidelines

Apply the intermediate cleaner at a dosage of 1 to 2 ml per square meter of surface. Let it work on the surface for at least 30 seconds, then rinse it off with clean water and dry the surface thoroughly.
