1.1545 (C105U) is a plain carbon [[glossary:kaltarbeitsstahl|tool steel]] with 1.05 % [[element:C|carbon]] — the hardest of the plain carbon tool steels. It reaches peak [[glossary:haerte|hardness]] after [[glossary:haerten|hardening]], but is correspondingly brittle. Use: cutting tools, razors, files, stamps, where maximum edge hardness and edge retention beat [[glossary:zaehigkeit|toughness]].
