C45W

1.1730 (C45W) is an unalloyed [[glossary:kaltarbeitsstahl|tool steel]] with only 0.45 % [[element:C|carbon]] — the softest of the tool steels. It's more of a quench and temper steel with tool character: less [[glossary:haerte|hardness]], but noticeably tougher and easier to weld. Use: dies, mold plates, machine parts that need a combo of hardness and [[glossary:zaehigkeit|toughness]].
