1.2080

X210Cr12

1.2080 (X210Cr12) is a classic [[glossary:kaltarbeitsstahl|cold work tool steel]] with 2.1 % [[element:C|carbon]] and 12 % [[element:Cr|chromium]]. The super high carbon content creates a lot of hard [[glossary:karbid|chromium carbides]] — that makes it even more wear-resistant than 1.2379, but also more brittle. It's the original of the ledeburitic 12%-chromium steels, from which the modern grades came. Use it for: cutting tools, drawing tools, deep-drawing punches, when maximum tool life matters more than [[glossary:zaehigkeit|toughness]].
