X37CrMoV5-1

1.2343 (X37CrMoV5-1) is the goto [[glossary:warmarbeitsstahl|hot-work steel]]: 5 % [[element:Cr|chromium]] plus [[element:Mo|molybdenum]] and [[element:V|vanadium]] make it hot-hard up to 500–600 °C. It's the standard material for [[glossary:druckguss|die-casting dies]] and [[glossary:schmiedegesenk|forging dies]], where molten metal hits the die under pressure. When welding, every detail counts because the repaired area has to keep its [[glossary:warmhaerte|hot hardness]]. But the same alloy is also used in [[article:spritzguss-formenstaehle|plastic injection molding]] – with completely different requirements for the [[glossary:zusatzwerkstoff|filler metal]] there.
