X153CrMoV12

1.2379 (X153CrMoV12) is the king of [[glossary:kaltarbeitsstahl|cold work tool steels]]: around 1.55 % [[element:C|carbon]] and 12 % [[element:Cr|chromium]] with [[element:Mo|molybdenum]] and [[element:V|vanadium]] make it extremely [[glossary:verschleissfestigkeit|wear-resistant]]. Its ledeburitic structure with hard chromium [[glossary:karbid|carbides]] handles cutting and stamping loads where other steels go dull long before. It's the standard for stamping tools, shear blades, thread rolling dies, and cold forming tools. The price of [[glossary:haerte|hardness]]: the steel is brittle, hard to machine, and highly [[glossary:risse|crack]]-prone when welding.
