1.3401

X120Mn12

The 1.3401 (X120Mn12 (Hadfield [[element:Mn|manganese]] steel)) is an austenitic manganese steel (Hadfield): tough and soft in the as-delivered condition, but work-hardens its surface under impact and pressure — the material for crushers and excavator teeth. Typical analysis: 1.2 % C, 0.3 % Cr, 12.5 % Mn, 0.4 % Si. For higher [[glossary:verschleissschutz|wear protection]], three hard-facing options are available: S Fe 1 (martensitic, approx. 300–400 HB, machinable), S Fe 2 (wear-resistant and tough, approx. 50–55 HRC, conditionally machinable) and S Fe 15 ([[glossary:karbid|carbide]]-rich, approx. 55–65+ HRC, not machinable).
