1.4003

X2CrNi12

1.4003 (X2CrNi12) is a ferritic, stainless [[element:Cr|chromium]] steel without [[element:Ni|nickel]] — magnetic, cheap, and resistant in mild environments. When welding, its grain in the [[glossary:waermeeinflusstaue|heat-affected zone]] coarsens irreversibly: the zone becomes brittle and loses [[glossary:korrosion|corrosion]] resistance. Typical analysis: 0.02 % C, 11.5 % Cr, 1.2 % Mn, 0.5 % Ni, 0.4 % Si.
