X39CrMo17-1

The 1.4122 (X39CrMo17-1) is a martensitic [[element:Cr|chromium]] steel: hardenable, magnetic, and with medium [[glossary:korrosion|corrosion]] resistance — more a knife and turbine material than a "stainless for outdoor use." Its high [[element:C|carbon]] makes it [[glossary:risse|crack]]-prone when welding. Typical analysis: 0.39 % C, 16.5 % Cr, 0.5 % Mn, 1.1 % Mo, 0.5 % Si.
