1.4362

X2CrNiN23-4

The 1.4362 (X2CrNiN23-4 (lean duplex)) is a duplex steel: roughly half [[glossary:austenit|austenite]], half [[glossary:ferrit|ferrite]]. That gives twice the strength of austenitic grades and very good chloride resistance (high PREN). The catch: the phase balance tips during welding if the heat isn't exactly right. Typical analysis: 0.02 % C, 0.1–0.2 % N, 23 % Cr, 1.3 % Mn, 0.3 % Mo, 4 % Ni, 0.5 % Si.
