1.4429

X2CrNiMoN17-13-3

The 1.4429 (X2CrNiMoN17-13-3) is an austenitic, stainless [[element:Cr|chromium]]-[[element:Ni|nickel]] steel — non-magnetic, tough all the way through, and generally easy to weld. The [[element:Mo|molybdenum]] grades (like 1.4404 or 1.4571) also hold up better against chlorides. Known weak spots when welding: high thermal expansion ([[glossary:verzug|distortion]]), [[glossary:heissriss|hot cracking]] tendency, and the risk of [[glossary:chromverarmung|chromium depletion]] in the [[glossary:waermeeinflusszone|heat-affected zone]]. Typical composition: 0.02 % C, 0.12–0.22 % N, 17.5 % Cr, 1.2 % Mn, 2.6 % Mo, 12.5 % Ni, 0.5 % Si.
