1.4462

X2CrNiMoN22-5-3

The 1.4462 (X2CrNiMoN22-5-3) is a duplex steel: about half [[glossary:austenit|austenite]], half [[glossary:ferrit|ferrite]]. That gives you twice the strength of austenitic grades and very good chloride resistance (high PREN). The catch: the phase balance tips during welding if the heat isn't exactly right. Typical analysis: 0.02 % C, 0.1–0.22 % N, 22.5 % Cr, 1.3 % Mn, 3.2 % Mo, 5.5 % Ni, 0.5 % Si.
