1.4547

X1CrNiMoCuN20-18-7

The 1.4547 (X1CrNiMoCuN20-18-7 (6Mo)) is an austenitic, stainless [[element:Cr|chromium]]-[[element:Ni|nickel]] steel — non-magnetic, tough all the way through, and usually easy to weld. The [[element:Mo|molybdenum]] grades (like 1.4404 or 1.4571) also stand up better to chlorides. Known weak points when welding: high thermal expansion ([[glossary:verzug|distortion]]), tendency to [[glossary:heissriss|hot cracking]], and the risk of [[glossary:chromverarmung|chromium depletion]] in the [[glossary:waermeeinflusszone|heat-affected zone]]. Typical analysis: 0.01 % C, 0.18–0.25 % N, 20 % Cr, 0.5 % Mn, 6.1 % Mo, 18 % Ni, 0.3 % Si.
