1.7243
18CrMo4
The 1.7243 (18CrMo4) is a case-[[glossary:haerten|hardening]] steel: hard on the outside through [[glossary:aufkohlen|carburizing]], tough on the inside. In the untreated state (low [[element:C|carbon]]), it is readily weldable. Typical analysis: 0.18 % C, 1.05 % Cr, 0.75 % Mn, 0.22 % Mo, 0.25 % Si. For higher [[glossary:verschleissschutz|wear protection]], three hard-facing options are available: S Fe 1 (martensitic, approx. 300–400 HB, machinable), S Fe 2 (wear-resistant and tough, approx. 50–55 HRC, conditionally machinable) and S Fe 15 ([[glossary:karbid|carbide]]-rich, approx. 55–65+ HRC, not machinable).
