1.8738
abrasionsbeständiger Vergütungsstahl 600
The 1.8738 (abrasion-resistant [[glossary:verguetungsstahl|quenched and tempered steel]] 600) is a wear-resistant quenched and tempered steel (400–600 HB) for excavators, mills, and chutes where abrasion and impact wear things out. Typical analysis: 0.45 % C, 1.2 % Cr, 1 % Mn, 0.5 % Mo, 2 % Ni, 0.4 % Si. For higher [[glossary:verschleissschutz|wear protection]], three hard-facing options are available: S Fe 1 (martensitic, approx. 300–400 HB, machinable), S Fe 2 (wear-resistant and tough, approx. 50–55 HRC, conditionally machinable) and S Fe 15 ([[glossary:karbid|carbide]]-rich, approx. 55–65+ HRC, not machinable).
