1.8901

S460N

The 1.8901 (S460N) is a normalized fine-grained structural steel: [[glossary:mikrolegieren-mit-niob|microalloying with niobium]], [[element:V|vanadium]], or [[element:Ti|titanium]] keeps the grain fine and bumps up [[glossary:streckgrenze|yield strength]] plus good [[glossary:zaehigkeit|toughness]]—even in the cold. Typical analysis: 0.18 % C, 0.08 % V, 0.3 % Cr, 1.5 % Mn, 0.2 % Mo, 0.4 % Ni, 0.4 % Si. For higher [[glossary:verschleissschutz|wear protection]], three hard-facing options are available: S Fe 1 (martensitic, approx. 300–400 HB, machinable), S Fe 2 (wear-resistant and tough, approx. 50–55 HRC, conditionally machinable) and S Fe 15 ([[glossary:karbid|carbide]]-rich, approx. 55–65+ HRC, not machinable).
