Plasma Welding & Cutting (15 / 83)

The World of Plasma Welding & Cutting

Focused energy density for extremely narrow seams and clean cuts. The confined arc reaches temperatures of up to 30,000 °C.

Plasma Gas System & Nozzle Calculator

Determine the plasma gas flow rate, shielding gas mixture, and nozzle diameter based on the material thickness.

Operating Mode:
Sheet thickness (material thickness):3 mm
Recommended Nozzle Diameter:1.2 mm
Plasma gas (Ar):0.4 - 0.8 l/min
Inert gas (Ar/H2):8 - 12 l/min

Important: Plasma gas forms the plasma column—shielding gas protects the molten pool from the atmosphere!

Keyhole Welding

Starting at a wall thickness of approximately 3 mm, the plasma beam penetrates the material completely (keyhole). Behind the beam, the molten material flows back together. Result: 100% penetration in a single pass without a molten pool!
