precipitation of copper-silver
Formation of fine silver particles in copper-based contacts that maintain electrical conductivity while increasing the softening temperature under thermal load.
Copper-silver is a classic contact material. In welding, it is important to manage the heat so that the silver is finely distributed in the copper and does not coarsely agglomerate. If you heat the parts too hot or too long, the microstructure becomes soft and the contacts no longer hold mechanically. So keep the exposure time short and weld with focused heat, then the alloy remains hard and conductive.
