माइक्रोस्ट्रक्चर दोष से toughness कम होती है और fracture की संभावना बढ़ती है। ये cracks या hot cracks का source बन सकते हैं, खासकर जब critical load areas में हों।

सही welding parameters follow करके (जैसे सही cooling steps) माइक्रोस्ट्रक्चर दोष से बचो। अगर defects पहले से हैं, तो fine machining या TIG welding जैसी special treatment से stability सुधार सकते हो।
